Stress Less: Botanicals, Food and Activities that Support the Nervous System with Linda Conroy
Join herbalist Linda Conroy for an afternoon of calm and connection. We will begin our time together with a guided meditation, followed by a talking circle, which will help to shape the workshop experience. We will explore herbs, food and activities that support restful sleep, reduce anxiety, help your body adapt to stress and nourish the nervous system. Strategies for bringing these into your daily life will also be discussed. We will learn about the wide spectrum of herbs that are called nervines and identify their unique expressions, so that we can determine their applications. Another important category of herbs are Adaptogens. We will learn about their origins, identify their unique qualities and discuss each of their applications. The food we ingest can be calming and engaging to our senses, or stimulate a stress response. We will discuss foods, topical applications, sleep rituals and more.
Bring the following with you:
a cup of oatstraw infusion
a cup of chamomile tea
a bowl of your favorite berries with your favorite yogurt
a piece of your favorite chocolate
A list of recipes will be provided and everyone will leave with a list of herbs to bring into their daily life!
Linda's Bio
Linda Conroy is a bioregional herbalist with over 30 years of experience as an educator, community organizer, event producer, and clinician. She founded Midwest Women’s Herbal, its related programs and events, and Moonwise Herbs. Her work draws on the tradition of the village herbalist, honoring women’s natural connection to the earth and their healing abilities. With a hands-on, experiential approach, Linda helps people build personal relationships with local plants and ecosystems, believing the most effective and sustainable herbalism comes from what grows nearby. She also weaves mushrooms into her practice, focusing on their benefits for human health and ecological balance. Her blend of herbs and fungi highlights local availability, traditional wisdom, and practical use and is showcased at the annual Mycelium Mysteries Conference she created. At its heart, her work fosters deep ties to nature, supports the earth, and builds resilient communities through women's empowerment, shared traditions and nourishment.
