A mycophile is an individual deeply involved in various aspects of mushrooms, including foraging, growing, eating, and learning.
Mariah Rogers, who has dedicated a significant part of her life to studying mushrooms, is currently a PhD Student Candidate at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. We are eager to discuss her journey, what initially inspired her, and what continues to fuel her passion for mycology. The conversation will cover a wide range of mushroom-related topics and will also include a discussion about Mycelium Mysteries: Women's Mushroom Conference, where both Mariah and Linda will be presenting. We will highlight some of the exciting events planned for the conference.

Mariah Rogers is the President of the Wisconsin Mycological Society (WMS) and a graduate student pursuing a MSc. in Biology at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in the lab of Dr. Arthur Grupe. Her research focuses on the diversity of truffle-forming fungi in the Midwest of North America. Mariah loves the community around fungi in Wisconsin just as much as the fungi themselves. Linda Conroy is a bioregional herbalist. Inspired by the plants and the feminine, she is the founder of Moonwise Herbs as well as the Midwest Womenโs Herbal Conference. Linda has apprenticed with and studied with world-renowned herbalists and has herself offered workshops and apprenticeship programs for three decades. Her passion is herbal nourishment through community, wild food, and wild medicine.
