Wild Foraging: Eat Your Way Through the Seasons A Conversation with Herbalist, Linda Conroy and Ethnobotanist, Patricia Armstrong!

Join herbalist Linda Conroy and Ethnobotanist Patricia Armstrong for a conversation focused on foraging and eating wild edibles through the seasons. This conversation is intended to celebrate and highlight the release of a new foraging plant walk series titled Eating Your Way Through the Seasons hosted by Midwest Women’s Herbal.

The series is based on an in-person series that Patricia Armstrong has led in various iterations for 50+ years. The video series focuses on 8 months of seasonal foraging. In this conversation Linda and Patricia will talk about some of the highlights from the videos, offering tips for plant/tree identification, harvesting tips as well as ways to prepare plants. We will talk about the joys of foraging and the seasonal nature of a foraging lifestyle.

Registration is required. Attend live to be eligible to win a PDF Copy of Patricia Armstrong’s book Wild Plant Family Cookbook or the Entire Eat Your Way Through the Seasons virtual Wild Edible Plant Walks.

Patricia Armstrong

Patricia Armstrong has a Master of Science degree from the University of Chicago in Ecology (Biology-Botany). She previously taught multitudes of nature classes at the Morton Arboretum for 16 years, plus Botany, Ecology, and Geology at the University of Wisconsin Extension, and Michigan State University's Juneau Icefield Research Program in Alaska.

Pat's knowledge and understanding of all things wild and free come from a life-long personal and intimate relationship with Nature that is passionate as well as scientific. She lives in a home she and her husband designed and built to fit into the natural ecosystems of northern Illinois. It is active and passive solar, energy-efficient, and landscaped with over 300 species of native trees, shrubs, prairie grasses and wildflowers approximately 40% of which are edible.

Pat is actively involved in living joyfully with Nature. She runs a consulting firm, PRAIRIE SUN CONSULTANTS, to educate and assist others in appreciating and using native plants and wild edible plants in home landscaping.
